Preamble

By using our services, you agree to the following terms and conditions. RoleplayMonster reserves the right to update and modify these terms occasionally.

Short Version

To make it easier to read, without legal jargon, we provide the following version that a normal person can understand.

You own your content (but we encourage you to publish it under a free license).

RoleplayMonster will not exploit your personal data, except for internal statistics (anonymized) or to inform you of an important change to our services.

RoleplayMonster will not share or resell your personal data (your privacy is - really - important to us).

The commitments of RoleplayMonster stem from an approach inspired by the desire for a free and self-determined digital life. You can find this in our charter for free, ethical, decentralized, and solidarity-based services.

The law is the law: You must follow the law (whether it is good or dumb), or your account will be deleted.

If it breaks, we are not obligated to fix it: RoleplayMonster offers this service for free. If you lose data, whether through your fault or ours, we are sorry, but it happens. We will do everything we can to recover it, but we do not derive any obligation from this. In other words: avoid storing sensitive or important data on RoleplayMonster services, as we cannot guarantee recovery in case of loss.

If you are not satisfied, you can go elsewhere: If you are unhappy with the service, you are free to find an equivalent (or better) service elsewhere or create your own.

Any abuse will be punished: If a user abuses the service, such as monopolizing shared computing resources or posting content deemed irrelevant, their content or account may be deleted without warning or negotiation. RoleplayMonster remains the sole judge of this term “abuse” to provide the best possible service to all its users. If this seems undemocratic or against freedom of speech, we refer you to the previous paragraph.

Nothing lasts forever: Services may be shut down (e.g., due to lack of resources to maintain them), or they may fall victim to intrusions (there is no such thing as “100% security”). Therefore, we recommend keeping a copy of data important to you, as RoleplayMonster cannot be held responsible for hosting data indefinitely.

Terms of Service

  • Use of our services is at your own risk. The service is provided as-is.
  • You may not modify another website to falsely imply that it is associated with this RoleplayMonster service.
  • Our services are only available to natural or legal persons. Accounts created by robots or other automated methods may be deleted without notice.
  • You are responsible for the security of your account and password. RoleplayMonster cannot and will not be liable for losses or damages resulting from your failure to comply with this security obligation.
  • You are responsible for all content posted and activities that occur under your account.
  • You may not use the service for illegal or unauthorized purposes.
  • You may not violate the laws of your country.
  • You are not allowed to sell, trade, resell, or use an account from the service for unauthorized commercial purposes.
  • You understand and agree that RoleplayMonster cannot be held responsible for content posted on our services.
  • You understand that making the services and your content available online involves transmission (in clear or encrypted form, depending on the service) over various networks.
  • You may not transmit viruses or any other malicious code.
  • RoleplayMonster does not guarantee that:
    • our services meet your specific requirements,
    • our services will be uninterrupted or error-free,
    • errors in the service will be corrected.
  • You understand and agree that RoleplayMonster cannot be held liable for direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including damages for lost profits, goodwill, access, data, or other intangible losses (even if RoleplayMonster has been advised of the possibility of such damages), resulting from:
    • the use or inability to use our services;
    • unauthorized access to or alteration of data transmission;
    • statements or actions of a third party on a service;
    • termination of your account;
    • any other matter related to the services.
  • The failure of RoleplayMonster to exercise or enforce any right or provision of the terms of service does not constitute a waiver of such right or provision. The terms of use constitute the entire agreement between you and RoleplayMonster and govern your use of the service, replacing any prior agreements between you and RoleplayMonster (including earlier versions of the terms of use).
  • You agree to have read and accepted the charter and the resulting moderation measures.

Changes to the Service

  • RoleplayMonster reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue a service at any time with or without notice.
  • RoleplayMonster is not liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of a service.

Copyright on Content

  • You may not publish, upload, blog, distribute, send, or disseminate content that is illegal, defamatory, harassing, abusive, fraudulent, harmful, obscene, or otherwise objectionable.
  • You may not upload or make available content that infringes the rights of others.
  • We do not claim ownership of your data: text, images, audio, video, or other material you upload or transmit from your account.
  • We will not use your content for any purpose other than providing the service to you.

Data Editing and Sharing

  • Files you create with the service can - if you choose - be read, copied, used, and redistributed by people you know or don’t know.
  • By publishing your data, you acknowledge and agree that anyone using this website can view it without restrictions.
  • The service may also allow you to restrict access and collaborative work on its documents to one or more other users.
  • RoleplayMonster cannot be held responsible for issues arising from the sharing or publication of data between users.

Termination

  • RoleplayMonster reserves the right to suspend or terminate your account and deny any current or future use of the service at its sole discretion. Such termination of the service will result in the deactivation of access to your account and the return of all content.
  • RoleplayMonster reserves the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason at any time.
  • RoleplayMonster also reserves the right to terminate your account if you do not log in for more than 6 months.
  • Before RoleplayMonster terminates a service, users will be notified three months in advance.

Personal Data

  • To use certain RoleplayMonster services, you must create an account. RoleplayMonster requires certain personal information: a valid email address and a password to protect your account from unauthorized access. The “Last Name” and “First Name” fields may be required for the proper functioning of the software but do not need to reveal your true identity.
  • Like other online services, RoleplayMonster automatically stores certain information about your use of the service, such as account activity (e.g., storage used, number of entries, actions performed), data viewed or clicked (e.g., links, user interface elements), and other identifying information (e.g., browser type, IP address, date and time of access, referring URL). We use this information internally to improve the user interface of RoleplayMonster services and ensure a consistent and reliable user experience. This data is not sold or shared with third parties.

Changes to the Terms

  • These terms of use may be changed unilaterally by RoleplayMonster at any time.
  • All changes will be announced at least 14 days before they take effect via the admin account.
